About

Jen Farr

Writer, erstwhile editor of Idle Ink.

Jen Farr is an Essex transplant trying to blend in up North. She was halfway through her Masters degree in Psychology when she realised she was investing way more time in making her thesis sound whimsical than she was on actual research, and began to re-evaluate her life choices.

So, she left academia behind and dived headfirst into the world of writing and publishing.

In 2017 she founded Idle Ink, a print zine featuring short stories, poetry and artwork, which she sold at zine fairs across the North. After a re-brand and a move online, Idle Ink became a popular hub for curious fiction and featured the work of hundreds of writers from around the world (emerging, established and everything in between), until its closure in 2024. Idle Ink and its many stories can still be viewed at www.idleink.org.

Nowadays, Jen spends her days doing freelance work and working on a novel.
